The Australian Writers’ Guild has announced the nominations for the 45th annual AWGIE Awards.
In the film and TV categories nominees include Keith Thompson and Tony Briggs for their film version of Briggs's stage musical The Sapphires, Sue Smith for the telemovie Mabo and Katherine Thomson for the documentary Australia On Trial: The Mount Rennie Outrage.
In the cateogory of 'stage' the nominees are:
Porn. Cake by Vanessa Bates
10 000 Beers by Alex Broun
Man In The Middle by Ron Elisha
Neighbourhood Watch by Lally Katz
Silent Disco by Lachlan Philpott
For 'children's theatre' the nominees are:
Love by Finegan Kruckemeyer
This Girl Laughs, This Girl Cries, This Girl Does Nothing by Finegan Kruckemeyer
Snow On Mars by Richard Tulloch with Kim Carpenter and Gale Edwards
For 'community theatre' the nominated writers are:
The Sadness Of Mister Saisson by Chris Thompson
Behind The Cane by Margery Forde and Michael Forde
The Boy With The Longest Shadow by Finegan Kruckemeyer
While in the 'radio play (original broadcast)' category the nominees are:
Paper Moon by Clementine Bendle-Thompson
Random Red by Noëlle Janaczewska
Grinning At The Lid by Paul Livingston
A winner for 'best adaptation of a radio play' will be announced at the awards presentation.
The Australian Writers’ Guild (AWG) awards are judged solely on the quality of the script, as opposed to the interpretation of a text through production.
The AWGIE Awards will be held at Sydney's Doltone House on 24 August.
