GENERATION Bby Gail EvansWhen Eris, the Goddess of Discord and Strife, is humiliated in front of her fellow Olympians by Zeus’s refusal to give her a sip of ambrosia, she vows to seek revenge! Eris infiltrates the sacred beehive that creates the ambrosia and, on the pretext of giving them a ‘gift’ for their faithful service, she imbues the bees with human personalities and ensconces herself as the Queen’s new adviser. Immediately the hive’s harmonious hierarchy crumbles. The supply of ambrosia is cut off, Zeus is left high and dry, and Eris engages in a battle of wits with one faithful bee who struggles to save them all.
Previous productions2007 Darwin High School Year 10 students, NTReviews/comments‘Working with Gail Evans on Generation B was one of the most satisfying artistic projects that I have been involved with. Due to the nature of the play and the wonderful help from the writer/director, I was able to develop my performance skills, including acting and singing. I am a trained classical singer and had not been involved with many musical theatre or contemporary works, but with the collaboration of Gail, Musical Director Yoris Wilson and the other musicians, we were able to create contemporary pieces that explored complex harmonies and helped the development of the play, showing the contrast between the three main settings. I also was able to explore different styles of acting, where I was a goddess, assistant bee, and emo bee. Under Gail’s direction I was able to deeply understand my characters and their importance in the overall journey of the play. While working on Generation B I made new friends, extended my acting and singing ability and had a lot of fun!’ What's in the Resources pack?
