Hazel Edwards
Best known for There's a Hippopotamus on Our Roof Eating Cake, (which was a recent official Australian government gift to the little Danish Princess Isobella) Hazel writes across media, including YA FakeID,(Tamil translation in progress) Antarctica’s Frozen Chosen and sequel Outback Ferals (Hachette). She co-authored ex blog Cycling Solo: Ireland to Istanbul (Brolga) with her cartographer son Trevelyan Quest Edwards who was the original three-year-old mind behind the hippo concept. Hazel runs Non Boring Writing workshops for genealogists, is a non-boring ‘geni’ columnist for aboutseniors, and web-chats about literacy stories like her 'Gang O Kids' orienteering series which encourage students to write their own local sleuths. In 2006 she was a national Literacy Champion and she’s on the Australian Society of Authors’ committee, co-holding the portfolios for Education and Children’s Books. Her 180 books have been translated into many languages and across media into theatre and TV. Currently Aust-China electronic writer in residence with Nanjing Youfu West Street International School and mentoring their bi-lingual School Turtle book.
