Tony Nicholls

Tony Nicholls was born and educated in England, where he worked for a couple of years as a professional actor. Although best known for his pantomimes, which are performed all over Australia and NZ, he has written extensively for adult and youth theatre companies. The Birds and Unto Us A Son Is Born were commissioned by Midnite Youth Theatre Company, as was Passion, which they toured in England and Wales in 2000. Johnny and No Present Like The Time have been published by Longman Cheshire. Another published piece, Urbs, Urbis, is a national favourite for high school production. Tony is a pioneer of the use of theatre in business conferences and conventions, and commissioned work of his has been performed at the national conferences of such groups as the Australian Institute of Health Surveyors and the Alzheimer's Association. Tony's recent work for adults includes the book and lyrics for a musical about a shopping centre, The Centre, and an eccentric post-modern tragicomedy, Oedipus Schmoedipus.
