Melita Rowston


Melita Rowston is a writer, director and dramaturge. She graduated from NIDA with a Graduate Diploma of Dramatic Arts - Directing - in 2000 and is currently working as a dramaturge on the literary staff at the Griffin Theatre. In 2002 she received the ANPC's Hot Spot mentorship grant to develop her play Solitude in Blue for production as part of the Stablemates season, sponsored by Griffin Theatre. In 2001 she received a Playworks Imminent Productions grant for swing girl which was staged at the SBW Stables Theatre to critical acclaim. In 1999 she received a Playworks development grant for Night Reflections, a play which was originally written and performed in 1998 at Melbourne Uni.. This outing received a Melbourne University Creative Development grant, and attendance at the International Festival of Young Playwrights 1999. In 2000, Night Reflections was restaged after development as part of the NIDA Director's Projects season. In 1999 she first wrote Solitude in Blue, which was staged at PACT Theatre, NSW.
