Chris Howlett


Chris Howlett has been writing, directing and acting for over ten years. In 1994 he was selected to attend the Interplay International Young Playwrights' Festival in Townsville, and subsequently wrote and directed works at LaMama, the Malthouse and St Martin's. In 2003 his play 'Character Analysis' was selected for the first Sydney season of Short and Sweet, and he was the joint winner of Red Stitch's inaugural national playwriting competition for 'Johnny Flip's Fate'. Chris has received writing for performance grants from the Literature Board of the Australia Council in both 2003 and 2007, and two of his monologues have been published in the US anthology 'Audition Arsenal' (Smith and Kraus). His play 'Lucy Devil Has Wealth Syndrome' is listed in the Australian Script Centre's Collection #5, under Centre's Choice.
