Steven Gration


Steven Gration grew up in the Western suburbs of Melbourne and after graduating with a Bachelor of Education he taught Drama and Media Studies in several post primary and tertiary institutions. He has worked as an actor/puppeteer with Handspan Theatre, an actor/writer/director with the Woolly Jumpers Theatre for schools, Geelong and was Student Theatre Director at LaTrobe University in 1988. Steven was Artistic Director of Corrugated Iron Youth Theatre, Darwin 1989-90 and Artistic Director of Magpie Theatre, South Australia 1991-93. Whilst at Magpie, steven conceived produced, and directed 'Funerals and Circuses', a collaborative work with Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal artists which had succesful seasons at the 1992 Adelaide Arts Festival, 1993 Melbourne International Arts Festival and the National Festival of Australian Theatre. In 1993 Steven was nominated for a Victorian Green Room Association Award in the category 'Best Director Music/Theatre' His children's play 'Chutney' has been performed at the 1
