Margaret Fischer
Margaret Fischer began writing, performing and producing for Red Cross fundraisers when she was in second grade at primary school. She continued to combine these skills as a member of Pipi Storm, a leading community theatre company formed in 1975. She co-wrote and performed a number of shows with Pipi Storm, touring widely in Australia from Arnhem Land to metropolitan Sydney. She then co-wrote and performed in The Dresses in Adelaide, Sydney and Melbourne. She also wrote and performed Ida Rosenblatt Gets Her Shit Together at the 1984 Adelaide Fringe Festival. For Vitalstatistix, Margaret co-wrote and performed in Weighing It Up, A Touchy Subject and The Fabulous Apron Fashion Parade. She was Artistic Director of that company for seven years until 1996. The sequel to The Gay Divorcee is Wanted (1997). Fischer continues to explore Jewish themes and work as an independent writer, performer and producer.
