Catherine Shepherd

Catherine Shepherd (1902–76) was born in Rhodesia, educated in the UK, and migrated to Australia in the early 1920s, living most of her life in Tasmania. She was a prolific writer who spent many years writing drama, for both the stage and radio, as well as numerous adaptations of fiction, and also biographies. Her favourite form was the radio play. The unifying principle in all of Shepherd's plays is a deep humanitarianism, something present in many of the works by Australian women of the period.
