I want to perform/produce a play
Before producing or performing any play, you must obtain production rights. Production royalties can vary and must be negotiated with the playwright or the playwright's agent. As a general guide, the royalty for school and non professional productions is $100 per performance (+GST) or 10% of gross box office receipts, whichever is the greater.
We can put you in touch with the relevant rightsholder. Simply click the 'production enquiry' button on each play page, fill out the short enquiry form and we'll help you get the ball rolling on your next production.
We love to hear about productions of any of the works featured on this site. Your experience of particular productions is also useful to other potential producers. Please consider sharing your experience by giving the play a rating and/or writing a review on the relevant script page of australianplays.org.
Permission to use music and recordings
Some playscripts include music or sound recordings. Producers are advised to contact the Australian Performing Rights Association (APRA) for information on music licensing requirements.
