MASSACRE
by Maurice StrandgardSet in the year 1838, Massacre is based on the Myall Creek massacre, which resulted in the first trial and conviction of white men for the killing of Aboriginal people. Three of the accused are in the one cell. One, the son of an aristocrat, demands that he be found guilty of what to him is the only significant thing that he has done. Another denies that the Aboriginal men are in fact men at all and he is therefore innocent. The third is tormented by guilt because he had been sleeping with one of the women. Tension further increases when he is made a witness.
