THIS HOSPITAL IS MY COUNTRY
by Katherine Thomson
This moving play examines the life of Elena, a refugee from the Greek civil war who has dedicated her life to working in a children's hospital. Now, with the threat of privatization, she may be asked to go and the memories come flooding back. As Elena locks herself in her beloved laundry, she finds someone else taking refuge, someone -- like her -- very uncertain about their future...
" - a little old lady in pink uniform and a mixed up kid - grasped the audience gently and dragged it into uncomfortable silences, personal agonies and the unthinkable grief, trauma, tragedies and life-stories that lie unseen and invisible behind normal everyday faces."
Jane Orljusich, Fremantle Herald, Nov. 18, 2000
