KATHLEEN

1919: Kathleen's mother insists that she forget all about Wilhelm, a former internee, and marry George, a soldier she had promised to marry on his return. 1934: Kathleen and George have three children, but Kathleen still regrets what might have been. George tells her that he is dying. 1946: Kathleen's sons are returned soldiers and daughter Mary was in a reserved occupation. They all plan to marry - Mary to a man from an Italian family, against Kathleen's wishes. 1980s: Kathleen is a lonely old woman who realises how much she misses George.
