WOODSHOCK 2569
by Jennifer O'SheaWoodshock 2569 is post-colonial, political theatre for children, exploring issues of environmental conservation. The play begins as the audience is ushered, as passengers, on to Funtime Futuristic Flights of Fancy, Flight 101 to Kakadu National Fun Park, "the fun park of the future'. But the time machine malfunctions, leaving passengers and crew stranded in the post-apocalyptic landscape of 2569. Characters they meet include such anthropomorphic manifestations as Izsmelder and the Indisposables from the Land of Away - "Away, that place where the rubbish goes" - and Oncewas; once was a tree, now is the custodian of the last dormant seedpod.
