THE SPAGHETTI WARS
by Philip Deally
The families of Anna Capricio and Angelo Monti migrated from Italy to Australia and set up rival pasta factories in St Kilda. Now it is the 1960s and, as teenagers, Anna and Angelo work in their fathers' factories and struggle to find their own identities in a changing country. They must also face the challenges and conflicts of tradition and home. Then they meet and fall in love...
The Spaghetti Wars follows the basic plot of Romeo and Juliet. The style is open to experimentation and incorporates Physical Theatre, the use of IT and music. Masks and cross-gender work are also possible.
