LOVE'S TRIUMPH
by Terence Crawford
Edwina Brumble is the queen of Kings Cross. Morrie Fairway is a big-hearted punter in debt to her. If Morrie doesn't pay the money by the end of the day, he'll be fed to the fish.
Meanwhile country boys Darcy and Brad arrive in the city to make their fortunes. Darcy falls for Mrs Brumble's best girl and ends up in gaol. Brad discovers a pile of trouble when he turns the head of a cross-dressing Southern Preacher. Everybody's fortunes are riding on the nose of a nag running in the fourth at Randwick - Love's Triumph. But in such desperate circumstances, will love triumph?
'Love's Triumph is consistently funny, utterly charming and (sneakily) clever. The laughs are so frequent it's easy to miss the edgier elements of Crawford's text... (it's) darker and funnier, nailing Kings Cross's bohemian romance.' Tim Benzie, Sun Herald, Nov 2, 2003
'This play is a comedy triumph... The issues which consume our media - the underworld, police corruption, racial discrimination, flawed humanity and dysfunctional families are addressed with poetic political incorrectness and brash one-liners.' David Martin, Actors Australia Online, Nov 4, 2003
