My parents hate him and I know they just want what’s best for me but they won’t even give him a chance. My brother gives him death stares and my dad pretends he doesn’t exist when he comes over. All my mum bloody says is (mocking)“leave the door open and the lights on” or “I’m not dropping you at his house unless his parents are home”, “your too young for a boyfriend” (said with some humour) crap.

EXTRACT: Stuff with my dad is messed up. Ever since mum passed away a few years ago dad’s never been the same. He has always been a drinker but mum used to make sure it didn’t get out of hand. He never really speaks about her anymore… neither do I. I don’t know what to say to people. I’m in year 11 in high school, my dad is a drunk, my mum died 2 years ago and we aren’t dealing with it?
