EXTRACT: Funny isn't it. I've never liked circuses. For one thing I'm afraid of heights. When I was about eight, I was taken to the circus. They had competitions, you know, the boy with the longest eyelashes and the girl with the longest legs. I was chosen as the fattest girl. A clown came racing up, scared me out of my wits, grabbed me and I was paraded around the ring on the elephant. They didn't say fattest girl, they said chubbiest or roundest or some other word, but I knew what they meant.
