Please explain he said..I said it was bullshit. I said we ought to sue. What were you doing there in the first place, he said. I said because I was invited, he's a prominent businessman in the area, we had an obligation to be there, along with other local figures. lt was part of our campaign to reach out into the community, the Commissioner's initiative, if I may remind you.

EXTRACT: To those who I haven't already spoken to, it's official. Internal affairs has launched a investigation into our activities. There's a big whale splashing around in the bay. Now I can see a few of you younger ones are probably concerned. Well, don't be. These inquiries happen now and then, and they're always furphies. They're initiated by some faction or other in College Street Headquarters to try and make a name for themselves or to score some points off another faction. They splutter along for a while and then they die out.

EXTRACT: "Get away from me!" I say. She screams. Someone shouts "he's got a gun!. . . suddenly people are running everywhere. stuff's spilling all over the floor in front of me, these two old people are lying on the ground, with their heads like this (in their hands). The woman's whimpering, the man's crying out "Spare my wife! Please, spare my wife! I yell out , "Shut up all of youse!" .. next thing I know, I'm running along this corridor, into the car park, down the ramp, into the street. I just keep running . .'til l'm OK again.
