REVIEW: Babyteeth by Rita Kalnejais

Rebecca Whitton, Australian Stage, 17 February 2012

"Would a nice, 14 year old girl fall in love with a 25 year old junkie on her way to her violin lesson? Would her educated, upper middle class parents allow the junkie to move into their underage daughter's bedroom? Both notions sound improbable in normal circumstances, but if the girl is dying of leukemia, with limited time to enjoy the experiences of her emerging adult self, then it sort of makes sense."

REVIEW: Babyteeth by Rita Kalnejais

John McCallum, The Australian, 15 February 2012

"Playwright Rita Kalnejais's lovely complex script, directed by Eamon Flack on a fluid revolving set by Robert Cousins, starts slowly, with all the set-up scenes dancing dangerously on the border between the comic and the tragic. But as the story unfolds, we come to realise all this initially grotesque behaviour grows out of the characters' hurt and their inability to come to terms with what is about to happen."
