In conversation with playwright, Mari Lourey

Bare Witness has been embarking on a marathon tour of Australia for the best part of 2012. As it wends its way to Hobart's Theatre Royal (21 & 22 Nov) and the home of, we took the opportunity to sit down with the playwright, Mari Lourey, to talk about the origins of this politically charged and morally complex piece of theatre.

Mari talks with actor and director Robert Jarman and is joined by some leading minds from the fields of journalism, photojournalism and war correspondence, John Martinkus and Rebecca Fitzgibbon.

What transpired was an in-depth reflection on issues surrounding manipulation of the media, Australia's role in East Timor and the current state of play in international war correspondence.

This video offers a condensed version of the conversation. A full length version will follow shortly.

This event was presented in partenership with the Theatre Royal and Fullers Bookshop. Special thanks to Robert Jarman and our panelists: Mari, John and Rebecca.
