Patrick White Playwrights’ Award shortlist and Fellowship

Sydney Theatre Company has released the judges’ shortlist of six plays in the running for the 2012 Patrick White Playwrights’ Award, which will be announced with a rehearsed reading of the winning play at The Wharf on Friday 24 May 2013 at 8pm. The winner of the prestigious Patrick White Playwrights’ Fellowship will also be announced at the event.

2013 NSW Premier's Literary Award Shortlist

The works of great living Australian writers have been recognised with the announcement of the shortlists for the 2013 NSW Premier's Literary Awards. 28 judges considered hundreds of entries across 10 prize categories, including the Nick Enright Prize for playwriting ($30,000).

Day one at the National Play Festival

While in Perth, we were keen to meet the new Artistic Director of Playwriting Australia (the organisation behind the festival), who took up the post only four weeks ago. Tim Roseman, who describes himself as a UK-based Anglo-Australian director and dramaturg, was Joint Artistic Director of Theatre503, a multi-award-winning new writing theatre in London, since 2007. He's arrived on Australia's playwriting scene at one of the busiest times of the year, to take the wheel as 13 playwrights and 36 actors from around the country descend upon WA's State Theatre Centre.

2013 R E Ross Trust Script Development Awards

Applications are now open for The R E Ross Trust Playwrights’ Script Development Awards 2013. The awards are open to Victorian-based playwrights and deliver a total of $30,000 to support the development of plays as works-in-progress.
