Performance Making in a Violent World

My name is Rani Pramesti and I am a performance maker and intercultural producer. I work predominantly with women to inspire conversations, self-reflection and social change. My work gives audiences and communities transformative experiences through intimate and insightful stories by and with women of diverse cultural backgrounds. Many years before I even considered jumping headlong into the arts, I trained and worked as a social worker in various inner-city Sydney homeless shelters.

STORY OF THE RED MOUNTAINS by Ben Ellis

As a playwright, Ellis is as unapologetically political as he is tender. Adelaide loves Mortido

We're thrilled that Angela Betzien's latest work to hit the stage, Mortido, has received such a warm welcome in Adelaide. Critics and audiences are loving this revenge tragedy, crime thriller and contemporary morality play all rolled into one. We were fortunate to sit down for a chat with Angela and her long-time collaborator, Leticia Cáceres, in June last year, during the script's workshop at the National Play Festival. Enjoy this behind-the-scenes look at Mortido, at a point in its development when the ideas were still spinning and words were being wrought into shape. Mortido, plays at Adelaide's Dunstan Playhouse till the end of October, before transferring to Belvoir St Theatre in early November.
