Linda Stainton

Linda has been a writer and actor in television and theatre since completing a BA in Visual Arts, Children’s Literature & Drama at Flinders Uni and the Q Theatre Intensive Acting Course, Sydney.

For the past 20 years she has worked as a screenwriter, researcher, script editor and storyliner for children’s and adult television winning an AWGIE for Best Script for TV Serial.

Her plays have been produced by Belvoir Street Theatre, Q Theatre, the Old Nick Theatre (Tas), Three Stage Theatre, Riverland Youth Theatre, the University of Tasmania and the Melbourne Comedy Festival. She has written and performed cabaret for Sydney’s Tilbury, Clarendon and Harold Park Hotels, and Café de Lane.

Linda has worked as a writer, actor and drama tutor with the Q Theatre, New England Theatre Co. and Self-Raising Theatre. In 1985, she helped create the On Cue Pub Theatre co. in which she was a co-writer and actor for 2 years. In 2001, she co-founded the Acting Factory Inc. which continues to produce outdoor Shakespeare and children’s shows in the Western Sydney area. For Ambience Entertainment she worked for 7 years as co-developer and writer on the much-loved children’s series ‘Larry the Lawnmower’ as well as freelance writer for multiple series of “Magical Tales” and “Jay’s Jungle."

Linda continues as a freelance writer for the perennial drama series, Neighbours, on which show she has also worked as a storyliner and script editor.
