Hellie Turner


Hellie Turner is an established West Australian playwright with numerous awards and production credits to her name (main-house, independent, community & youth). Her work has been seen by audiences in Western Australia, Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia, Northern Territory and Queensland. In addition to her freelance work, she has been the resident playwright for ‘kompany M’, a professional WA theatre ensemble, since 2005. Her awards include: Short-listed WA Premier's Book Award "Windows" 2001; Winner of WA Premiers Book Award (scripts) 2002 “Bench”; Nomination for Best Play 2003 Equity Guild Awards, “Bench”; Runner Up for "Bone Dry" script; Dogswood Playwrights Initiative QLD 2004; Winner of WA Premiers Book Award (scripts) 2006 "Sardines"; Winner (inaugural) of Maj Monologues 2006 "Billy Windlock"; Nomination for Best Play 2006 Equity Guild Awards “Billy Windlock”; Finalist in WA Theatre Development Initiative (“Mad Fred”) 2009 WATDI; WA nominee for the Society of Women Writers 2010 ‘Alice Literary Award’
