Marg Hickey

Marg's plays have been performed in regional Victoria, La Mama, Brisbane and overseas. Bloke and If the Truth be Told are listed with Australian Plays. Her work has been praised by David Williamson and authors including Cate Kennedy and Geoffrey Robertson Q.C. The Guardian Arts and Culture review awarded Bloke 5 stars. Her monologue, Awkward won the judges award at the Short and Sweet Brisbane finale in 2018. Her short stories have been published in literary journals such as Meanjin. In 2018 she won the Australasian Short Story Festival and the Australian Academic Writer's Emerging Writer's prize'. In that year, she also won first prize in Regional Victoria for her story Binky (about a failed playwright) and second in the State. In 2018, Marg was awarded her PhD in Creative Writing. Her thesis has been nominated for the Nancy Millis award for an outstanding thesis.
