Merlynn Tong is an Actor and Playwright. As a playwright, she will be standing on the shoulders of giants to adapt Sophocles’ Antigone for Queensland Theatre (2019). She has written two one-woman shows, Ma Ma Ma Mad (2015), the true story of her mother’s suicide and Blue Bones (2017), a semi-autobiography of teenage romance as it blossoms then warps in heat of bustling Singapore. In 2018, Merlynn wrote Good Grief, a play for Queensland Theatre’s The Scene Project,where she take ancient myths and legends from around the globe and reimagines into modern day moments. Her solo work Blue Boneshas recently won 6 Matilda Awards including the Lord Mayor Award for Best New Australian Work, Best Mainstage Production and Best Female Actor in a Leading Role.
