Purchasing a play

We have designed this site to make it easy for you to browse our comprehensive catalogue and find the ideal play for your next production. Here is some information to help you on your way, but if you have any questions, please contact us.

This information should be viewed in conjunction with our full terms and conditions.

Search features

You can use our extensive search facilities to find plays that meet a range of criteria.

Quickly search by play title or playwright name in the home page search box or click 'find a play' in the right-hand menu for more advanced search features.

From the left-hand menu you can browse alphabetically by play title and playwright name and explore a range of other classifications and showcases we’ve assembled for you.

Our database also features a huge selection of hand-selected monologues. Click ‘find a monologue’ in the right-hand menu and search by gender, genre, age and length to identify plays that contain the perfect piece for your next audition or assessment. Within the listing page for each of the suggested plays, you’ll find a monologue tab that contains a short sample and useful information about each monologue. Subscribers also have the opportunity to preview the full script online.

Making copies

The publications available on this site are protected by Australian and international copyright law. Before making copies of these scripts or performing a play, you have a legal obligation to obtain permission.

For works in PDF format only, we are authorised to collect and distribute licence fees for photocopying on behalf of playwrights and publishers whose works are sold through AustralianPlays.org.

Purchasing a script in digital format grants you the right to print one copy only; further copies require a Copy Licence.

You can buy a Copy Licence as an optional extra with any PDF script, or you can purchase a licence at a later time, by clicking the ‘copy licensing’ button on the relevant product listing.

Copy Licences are not available for printed books sold through AustralianPlays.org. You will need to seek permission to copy scripts that are published in book format from the relevant publisher.
