Early morning in a lush garden park, and Shelley, a young jogger takes in the sights and sounds of passing human traffic. Pausing to catch her breath, she hears the sound of a child crying under the shadow of a large tree…What has happened? Where is the child’s mother?
What follows is an absurdist mystery in which ‘truth’ and moral rectitude shift and turn like a Mobius strip. Shelley recounts a story of the child’s abandonment and her fight with a Mystery Woman to her partner Tex. But each time she recounts the story of the altercation, it becomes more preposterous both in its depiction of the other woman and of Shelley herself.
What has really happened in the garden? Has Shelley come across an abandoned child or something else? Is Tex really the supportive partner he seems? And what does the question of an abandoned child raise for us as a society and individually? The more Shelley pursues her quest for truth, the more uncertain everything becomes.
