Set in the outskirts of a city - this is a play about the unseen triumphs of a family hoping to find some private dignity by keeping their secrets to themselves.

Kerry arrives with her three children on her mother-in-law’s doorstep. The last port of call in their itinerant lives. Abandoned by her husband, Kerry tries unsuccessfully to curb her ‘dramatic nature’ long enough to get a job and find the means to keep following her husband across the country.

Her children, however, don’t want to keep moving and nor are they welcome at their grandmother’s house. As Jojo (the eldest) permanently cares for the youngest child, Teague, the wry and quick witted Cassie searches for a job to support them.

Working as a topless waitress, Cassie drops out of school (and her precious art class) to keep them afloat as Kerry begins sneaking off to the neighbours, earning her own petty cash.

When the handsome young Cameron, an old paramour of Jojo’s, visits the house – Cassie charms him and sees an opportunity to escape.

When Teague strikes his Grandma, the sisters make the decision to stick together no matter what and they slip out at night and leave their mother to keep hunting her husband; her own bird of paradise.
