MICHAEL FRANCIS WILLOUGHBY IN ELOHGULP

by Chris Thompson

Ever wondered what happens to all the soapy water and sudsy gludsy stuff that goes down the plughole? Where does it all end up?

When Michael Francis Willoughby and his best and only friend Dirty Duck get sucked down the plughole of their bath, they soon find out. Elohgulp is the world at the bottom of all the plugholes and gully-traps and drains that swallow up all the good and bad and ugly stuff that gets flushed and washed and swept away down our gutters and sinks and bathtubs. It’s inhabited by Drits (all bits and bobs and dribble-blobs) and Assupods (all froth and muddlesuds) and a very scary creature called The Gludse. Get sucked into a world of puppetry, music and ‘jumbledygook’ language in a story about friendship personal courage, environmental responsibility and facing up to the things you are most afraid of. As Great Grandduck says, “You learn a lot as you go along. You learn about having friends you can trust; about telling stories and passing things on; how some things can’t last forever, and that sometimes scary things are scariest when you are furthest away from them. And you learn that all these things are important. Even for a kid.”
