MAN WITH THE IRON NECK

by Ursula Yovich

A powerful new work about a small town Australian family, finding hope and embracing life after trauma.

More than a theatre show, The Man With The Iron Neck delicately and determinedly addresses the issue of suicide amongst young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, focusing on hope and solace.

When Ash loses his best friend Bear to suicide, he starts to idolise 20th century stuntman The Great Peters, who jumped from bridges with a rope around his neck and lived. But the fabled stuntman’s death-defying legend is an impossible dream to follow.

Written by leading Australian actor Ursula Yovich and featuring Legs on the Wall’s awe-inspiring aerial prowess, this bold and tender portrait of survival melds text, video design and daring physicality. Co-directed by Josh Bond (Djuki Mala) and Gavin Robins (King Kong, How to Train Your Dragon).

Contains themes of suicide that may be distressing to some audience members.
