The Magic Circle is a story about a migrant kid called Arley who has recently arrived in Australia. Arley finds herself confused by Australian culture and is wanting to understand her new country more.
Arley has a dream and finds herself in the Magic Circle, a place in the Australian bush, where dreams come true and where she finds hope, courage and the answers to many of her burning questions.
Guided by a quintessentially Australian character called Mick, Arley begins to make sense of her new country, as she explores Australia’s history and its migrant past.
Arley meets people from the past who tell stories about their own experiences, these include Aboriginal people, convicts from the first fleet, gold rush migrants and a Vietnamese refugee.
This play is full of humour, great characters and fun and moving songs. The play will leave you with a greater understanding of the challenges a young migrant kid can face and how kids can find their inner strength and sense of belonging, through finding meaning in their world.
